Hot Meals
In 2013, 17.4% of the population of the Pass area had income below the Federal poverty guidelines. An additional 7.3% were below 50% of the poverty guidelines. This means that nearly one quarter of those living in the San Gorgonio Pass are living near or below the poverty levels. Food security is a major issue for these people. Providing a hot meal and groceries can help assuage these worries. Our organization provides a clear benefit to the poor living in the Pass area and fills a huge gap that currently exists in their ability to adequately feed their families.
Carol’s Kitchen serves nutritious hot meals 4 days a week in Riverside County. Our mission is to serve those in need with dignity and compassion. That’s why we make it a point to use high-quality ingredients and prepare our meals fresh on the mornings that we serve.
Most of our meals include:
- A protein
- Vegetables
- Salads
- Juice
- Coffee
- Dessert
At some of our kitchens, we also serve peanut butter and jelly sandwiches or coldcut sandwiches with a snack for the children.
Bags of Fresh Groceries
Thanks to our generous sponsors, we can also give our guests bags of fresh groceries so they can receive nourishment even after leaving our kitchen.
